In July 2026, the owner of Glass Half Full, a wine shop and wine bar in Twyford, Berkshire, approached us to see if we could help them redesign their website.

They created their website on Shopify ready for opening in early 2026. However, since opening, the website wasn’t performing as well as it could be and it didn’t offer a great user experience.

So, we got to work on improving the website through some small incremental changes.

What we did

As you can see from before and after videos of the homepage, we rewrote the copy for the intro and we also removed the intrusive banner that took a lot of real estate on screen.

We undertook some basic structural changes on the website, so instead of having a contact and gallery page we changed that to just being a combined contact page and moved the gallery to the homepage.

Enhancing user experience

On the homepage, we improved the gallery because the existing gallery had images of different sizes as well as titles of the photos appearing.

This did not look good and as you can see from the updated homepage with the new gallery, it looks a lot better and improves the user experience.

Not only was the external user experience improved, but we also tidied up the back end of the Shopify site so that it was a lot easier for Simon, the owner of Glass Half Full, to update when required.

SEO optimisation

In addition to the appearance of the website, we also ensured all of the metadata and meta descriptions on the website were optimised to help Glass Half Full perform better on organic search.

Our website redesign process

  • Firstly, we undertook an audit of the current website from an SEO as well as user experience perspective. We also looked at the content of both the website and Glass Half Full social media presence.

  • We then compiled a recommendations report, with various options on implementing the recommendations, which we presented to Simon at Glass Half Full.

  • Following our presentation we started on the improving the website based on the suggested recommendations.

"We set up the website quickly, so we knew after opening we need to improve it. I spoke to Jason and he offered great advice and helped me understand the backend of my site too, so that I could make basic changes myself. The small improvements have really helped the site and improved traffic." Simon, Owner of Glass Half Full

Incremental improvements for small businesses

We only made small improvements to the website, as we felt this was all that was necessary to fit within the client's budget.

There more potential future improvements on the roadmap, such as adding a blog to help increase traffic from search engines, but for now Simon just wanted some quick wins to help improve his website.

If you think your website could benefit from a quick tuneup get in contact and we can discuss potential improvements, big or small.
